Jonathan Augst as Rudy GiulianiEarlier this afternoon this network was informed of Rudy Giuliani's plans to file papers with the New York Department of State to form a Presidential Exploratory committee. We received the following statement:
"After talking with my colleagues and close advisors I, Rudy Giuliani, have decided to go forward and file papers to the New York Department of State to form a presidential exploratory committee. The papers that have been filed are for a domestic not for profit organization.
While my final decision has not been made on if I will seek the republican presidential nomination, I have decided to take the first steps toward the nomination by filing these forms so I can legally start to gather donations from those individuals that would like to assist in exploring the possibility of running in the 2008 presidential election.
A final decision will quite possibly be made around 3:00pm pacific time onThursday, January 10 2008 ."
